The Nation's Largest One-Day Food Drive is Saturday, May 12 when the United Way teams up with National Association of Letter Carriers and others to Stamp Out Hunger in our region.
This is the 20th annual year and includes Lincoln County. Those residents and businesses wanting to participate are to place unopened, non-perishable food next to their mailbox before their letter carrier delivers the mail on Saturday, May 12. To help with the effort, use specially marked bags to place the cans in which are available in local SHOP N' SAVE locations. Types of food may include peanut butter, soups, canned tuna or chicken. Any non-perishable canned good that can be considered a complete meal is desired.

Cuivre River State Park in Troy will be conducting Saturday night summer nature programs and will kick-off the schedule May 12 at 6 p.m. The program will be presented by the World Bird Sanctuary and will be a raptor awareness program. It will be held at the Lake Lincoln Beach, so bring lawn chairs and towels. This will be a one-hour program on birds of prey. Live hawks, falcons and owls will make an appearance. This will be great family fun and is free. Bring cameras, but no alcohol. In case of rain, the program will be moved indoors to Camp Derricotte dining hall.
